RAUHA (Café Agora Rauha) on Kokeellisten taiteiden nomadisen akatemian Mahdottoman viikon tapahtuma toukokuussa 2025 Harakan saaren Lennätin-ja Kasematti IV-gallerioissa ja Taiteilijatalossa. Se tuo yhteen taiteen, taiteilijat, yleisön, kahvin, keskustelun, työpajan ja luennot. Lennätin-galleriaan rakentuu osallistava monitaiteellinen live-installaatio, jossa usean taiteilijan teokset ovat myös mukana keskustelijoina.
Mahdottoman viikolla kysytään taiteen ja puheen keinoin mahdottomia asioita, ja tartutaan ajassa liikkuvien kysymysten muuttuvaan muotoon. Mahdottomalta tuntuvat asiat muuttuvat mahdollisiksi, mutta mahdolliset ja saavutetut asiat saattavat myös liikkua kohti mahdottoman valtakuntaa.
Militaristisen kielen ja vihapuheen leviäessä monille yhteiskunnan alueille, rauhasta keskusteleminen on muuttunut yhä haastavammaksi. Miten voimme avata siitä taiteen ja puheen kautta? Onko rauhasta tulossa mahdoton aihe?
2020-luvulla oli ensin globaalia turvattomuutta aiheuttava globaali pandemia, jonka jälkeen tietoisuus sodasta ja sodan mahdollisuudesta on noussut uutena uhkana myös Pohjoismaiden turvalliselta näyttävässä ympäristössä ja yhteiskunnassa. Kansainväliseen sopimukseen perustuvan maailmanjärjestyksen romahtaminen näyttää uhkaavan ja tekevän tehottomiksi ne välineet, jotka koettiin yhteiseksi hyväksi sekä maailmanrauhan että ympäristön monikriisin kannalta.
Mutta rauha on myös mielentila sekä ystävyyden ja vieraanvaraisuuden asenne. Missä määrin taustalla oleva konflikteja ja tuhoisaa luomista suosiva kulttuurin ajattelutapa estää toisenlaisen ajattelun esiin murtautumisen? Näitä pohdimme Johanna Ketolan ja Sara Kovamäen rakentamassa kahvilainstallaatiossa yhdessä vierailijoiden ja Harakan taiteilijoiden teosten kanssa. Rauhan kahvilan perjantainen iltatapahtuma kutsuu sinut keskustelemaan, kysymään, vastaamaan ja jakamaan ajatuksia ajankohtaisista ja ajattomista rauhan, sodan ja inhimillisyyden kysymyksistä. Filosofi ja tutkija Eetu Virénin sekä rauhantutkimuksen väitöskirjatutkija Juulia Niinirannan kanssa pohdimme mistä puhumme, kun puhumme rauhasta? Mistä rauha rakentuu? Miltä rauha näyttää? Onko rauhalla alku ja loppu, vai onko se itsessään päätepiste?
Tule mukaan Ilaria Tuccin lauantaina ja sunnuntaina pitämään teatterityöpajaan The Conference of Birds: A Creative Theatre Workshop Taiteilijatalon kirjastoon. Persialaisen mystikko Farid ud-Din Attarin ajaton allegoria The Conference of Birds kertoo linturyhmän matkasta symboloiden pyrkimystä itsensä löytämiseen, yhtenäisyyteen ja valaistumiseen. Tarinan ytimessä puhutaan harmonian, ymmärryksen ja sisäisen rauhan voimasta – yleismaailmallisista teemoista, jotka resonoivat syvästi nykymaailmassa. Nomadic Academy of Experimental Arts will organise IMPOSSIBLE WEEK: PEACE (Cafe Agora Peace) event as the yearly Impossible Week event of 2025 at the Lennätin and Kasematti IV galleries and Artists’ House on Harakka island. The Agora brings together art, artists, the audience, coffee, discussion, workshop, concerts and lectures. A participatory multi-artist live installation will be built at the Lennätin gallery, where works by several artists will also be included as discussion participants.
In The Impossible Week we will ask impossible questions through art and speech, and will grasp the changing form of questions in the of the 2020s. Things that seem impossible become possible, but possible and achieved things may also move towards the realm of the impossible.
As militaristic language and hate speech spreads to many areas of society, the idea of peace and the state of being relating to it seems to be hiding from the previous perspectives. How can a changing situation be expressed and opened up through art and speech? Is peace becoming an impossible topic?
In the 2020s the global pandemic caused global insecurity, and after that the awareness of the wars and the possibility of war, even in the seemingly secure environment and society of the Nordic countries, has emerged. The collapse of the international treaty-based world order seem to threaten and make ineffective the tools that were perceived as common good both for the world peace and the multi-crisis in the environment.
But peace is also a state of mind and an attitude of friendship and hospitality. To what extent does the underlying cultural mindset that favors conflict and destructive creation prevent a different kind of thinking from breaking through? We will consider these in the café installation built by Johanna Ketola and Sara Kovamäki together with the visitors and the artworks by the artists of Harakka. On Friday Peace Café invites you to discuss, ask, answer and share thoughts on current and timeless questions of peace, war and humanity. With philosopher and researcher Eetu Virén and doctoral researcher in peace studies Juulia Niiniranta, we will consider what we are talking about when we talk about peace? What is peace built from? What does peace look like? Does peace have a beginning and an end, or is it an endpoint in itself?
Join in to Ilaria Tucci’s theatre workshop The Conference of Birds: A Creative Theatre Workshop on Saturday and Sunday in the Artists’ House library where you can step into the transformative world of The Conference of Birds, a timeless allegory by Persian mystic Farid ud-Din Attar. This poetic masterpiece recounts the journey of a group of birds in search of their king, symbolizing a quest for self-discovery, unity, and enlightenment. At its heart, the narrative speaks to the power of harmony, understanding, and inner peace—universal themes that resonate deeply in today’s world.
