When warp meets weft, they create a fabric. But what happens when warp and weft meet an island?
The exhibition reveals a weaving process situated on and in dialogue with Harakka Island. The mental and physical relationships between yarn and site create a poetic encounter between them.

Aoi Yoshizawa is a Helsinki-based visual artist who engages in experimental approaches to traditional craft techniques within contemporary textile practice. Her artistic work investigates ancient weaving techniques and reimagines tools and processes to test the limits of hand weaving. Yoshizawa holds an MA from Aalto University (2015) and a BFA from the Bergen National Academy of Arts (2011). Since 2018, working in her studio at Harakka Island has been central to her artistic practice.
Her current artistic work, including this exhibition, is supported by the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency (Kuvi).

Arriving to the island:
Ferry every hour and half hour (not 11:30 am) from Ullanlinna pier (in front of Café Ursula).
Raise the sign for the boat.

Dogs are not allowed on the island.
